This explains what personal information WaltzUp collects when you use our website and apps, why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
WaltzUp is run by I M DIMSUM LIMITED (company no. 15806053, registered office 3 Tulyar Mews, Nork Gardens, Banstead, England, SM7 1NZ). We are the controller of the personal information described here, under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
For anything about your information, email privacy@waltzup.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign in with a one-time code or with Google. We don't use passwords. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address from Google, nothing else.
- Orders: what you ordered, from which shop, the price, how you chose to receive it (pickup, delivery or at your table), and your delivery address if you chose delivery.
- Payments: card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of each payment (amount, status, card brand, receipt link) so orders and refunds can be checked.
- Bookings and queue tickets: party size, date and time, and any notes you add.
- Loyalty, vouchers and coupons: your points at each shop, vouchers you bought and coupons you claimed or used, and your membership number.
- Reviews you write (rating and comment). Reviews are public and shown under your name if you've given one, otherwise as "WaltzUp customer". Your email is never shown.
- Shops and events you follow, and the notifications we send you.
- Notification settings: if you allow notifications, a technical address for your browser or device so we can send them.
- Your location, only when you ask for it. If you tap "Near me", your browser or phone shares your position so we can sort shops and events by distance. It's used for that search only and isn't saved.
- Technical information: like any website, our servers record requests (such as IP address, browser type and the page asked for) to keep the service running and secure.
If you work at a shop on WaltzUp, we also keep your email, your role and a record of changes you make (an activity log).
Why we use it
- To provide the service you asked for (performing our contract with you): signing you in, placing and tracking orders, taking payment, bookings, queues, loyalty points, vouchers and coupons.
- To keep WaltzUp safe and working (our legitimate interests): preventing fraud and misuse, fixing problems, and improving the service.
- With your permission (consent): notifications and location. You can turn these off at any time in your browser or phone settings.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping payment and accounting records.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
- The shop you order from or book with receives what it needs to serve you: your email, your order or booking, and your delivery address or table. Each shop is responsible for how it uses that information.
- Shops you follow can send you messages through WaltzUp. They don't receive your email address from following. You can unfollow at any time.
- Service providers who work for us: Amazon Web Services (hosting and sending email), Stripe (payments), Google (if you choose Google sign-in), Apple, Google and Expo (delivering app notifications), and OpenStreetMap (map images, which your browser loads directly when you open a map).
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Some of these providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Your account stays while you use WaltzUp. Ask us and we'll delete it.
- Orders and payment records are kept for up to 6 years, because accounting and tax law require it.
- Notifications in your inbox are deleted after 90 days.
- You stay signed in on a device for up to 30 days unless you sign out.
- Backups are kept for 14 days, then deleted.
How we protect it
Everything you send to WaltzUp travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Our database isn't reachable from the internet, each shop can only see its own customers' information, and only the people who need it to run the service can access it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of the information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it's wrong;
- have it deleted;
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
- receive it in a format you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your permission for notifications or location at any time.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@waltzup.com. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
WaltzUp isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
